Who Am I?

People call me Alex. I am a [high school] freshman. I don't really do much. I don't play any sports, and i don't play an instrument. I tend to quit things, for example, soccer, ballet, gymnastics, dance, plays, piano, and most recently, volleyball. I don't like to do things everybody else is doing, but I do like to fit in. If that makes sense. I listen to music 17/7, I cut out the hours when I go to school, so really it would be 17/5 during the week days, and 24/2 on weekends. My taste in music differs, but I do like every genre (I'm not kidding when I say every), even country, which a lot of people seem to be against, and I don't understand why. I really like solo artists, that don't have a lot of editing to there songs, so its just them and their instrument(s). I like people like, Ben Folds, Ben Kweller, Luke Leighfield, Kate Nash, Ben Lee, and more. Yesterday, when I was on iTunes, I saw that 3 of my favorite artists, Ben Folds, Ben Kweller, and Ben Lee have collaborated and made a band called, "The Bens". They are probably going to be a future obsession. I haven't listened to their songs yet. I wish I was really good at art, and I wish I could play piano. To learn is my goal for the 08/09 school year. I try to be funny, but I don't think I am. I have this thing, where doors, especially in my house, have to be closed, or else it bugs me, a lot. I try to ignore it, so I don't look like a freak when I have friends over or something. I am really interested in astronomy, psychology, real estate, and how the earth was created, and I think documentaries are exciting. I love Taylor!!! [written by Taylor]

Nothing isn't Nothing

How It Should Be (Sha Sha)
Ben Kweller

when i was a movie star, an asteroid had hit the earth and prematurely ended my career. i thought out loud, but no one heard me saying:
"nothing isn't nothing, nothing's something that's important to me. that's right. and everyone's a little nothing, that's ok, that's how it should be." that's right. that's right. sha sha. sha doo. when i was an astronaut, i bought a fancy charm. i thought you liked it but you called it cheap and at my feet it felt like: "so sue me, it's up to me if i decide to be what i think is right. and don't bother me when i'm watching 'planet of the apes' on t.v." that's right. that's how it should be. sha sha. sha doo. "so sue me, it's up to me if i decide to be what i think is right. the sound, it found the ground and it hid it for free." that's right. that's how it should be. sha sha. sha doo.

This song is so abstract, and you can't tell what Ben is trying to express, if anything. But it is impossible to feel any emotion other than joy when you listen to it. The song starts with a relaxing piano tune, and then the lyrics come, which are questionably strange, "when i was a movie star an asteriod had hit the earth and prematurely ended my career" but, Ben has this magical ability to make you agree with everything he says, like "nothing isn't nothing, nothing's something that's important to me". This song is so catchy, and it's nearly impossible not to love it. The only thing i don't like, is it's short [1:49] length.
